Allergies, Gravy, Vacation and Contractors Galore

There is alot of sniffling going on.  Snot galore.  Aden has perfected the Sinus Salute.  That's where he pushes his nose up with his hand. Not sure if he thinks that will push the snot back in or what.
But, its not just Aden, we all seem to be suffering.  I just love pollen.
Nana & Papa are heading down to the lake for vacation and have decided that they want to take Aden with them.  I wish they would take Evan too, but the both of them together are way to much for Nana to handle for a week.  Evan is still in full maniac mode.  But, if I can figure out how to control Aden's allergies by tomorrow afternoon, I guess I will let him go.  Its good for the boys to have time apart.  There is alot less fighting when they are separated lol.
Gracie has been bringing the kitten, Gravy to the door several times a day and during the night as well.  She cries, then he cries.  I think she may be biting him to make him cry.  She wants us to let Gravy in.  I don't think so.  Mama did that to us, twice.  First when she dropped off Gracie & Monkey, and then again when she brought Dart.  I am not taking care of the baby for her.  She stole it, she can take care of it.  I have my own babies to take care of.

The roofer did in fact show up yesterday.  So the final contact was signed, the colors picked out, the shingles selected.  We are just not clever enough to come up with the typical seven colors used on Victorian houses.  We did pick out four.  That's about as gaudy as I can get.
But, and there always is a but, we can't start the roof until the porch columns are leveled back out.  I wanted to know why that wasn't brought up last year when we were getting the estimates for the roof and was told that they have settled alot more since then and will have to be fixed first, before we rebuild the roof.  If we don't, then it will be a waste of time doing the roof, because if we try and jack up the porch roof later, it will damage the roof.  Lovely, just flippin' lovely. So I spent yesterday trying to track down companies that do mud jacking.  My first estimate is at 11 this morning.  I have a total of 6 companies coming out.  Bill was impressed.  Why I don't know, maybe  its because I have no problem just calling people.  He doesn't like the phone very much, and I am pretty sure if I left it up to him, we'd be waiting till next May before we saw any contractors :).  He's really not that bad, but he does really hate calling people :).
The good thing about mud jacking is that it can be done in any weather, so we won't be stuck waiting until it's nice to get it done.  The only issue we may run into is the fact that the columns are set on top of bricks.  But, I guess we'll find out soon enough.  I only hope that this doesn't run through the  budget have set for the rest of the outside work.  Like the fence.  I really, really need that fence.  Sam has slipped her collar 2 days in a row. I am very tired of chasing her.  The collar is as tight as I can get it.

As far as Aden making the 3-4 hour trip, I can't decide what to do about his car sickness.  The pediatrician said Dramamine was fine to give him. But, I looked up the dosage and that is about what a dose of Benedryl is for him.  Maybe I'll save the money on the Dramamine and just give him a dose of benedryl.  Its the same active ingredient.  I'll have to call his doctor to see for sure, since he is taking claritin as well.  I know that when my allergies get really bad I can take both.  But then I'm alot bigger :)

Whatever, I am sure it will work out fine.

Day 9 of Stopping Smoking

Last night we had some fairly exciting Midwest style weather :)  Lots of wind, a bit of heavy rain, 90 degree (Fahrenheit) temperatures, and hail.  I just love it here.  The bad part of storm, with the hail, didn't last all that long, maybe 10-15 minutes, but the boys were completely freaked out.  The hail was anywhere from pea size to about the size of a peach pit.  The boys thought I was lying to them when I told them it was going hail.  It had been raining on and off and then the rain just stopped.  If you've ever experienced a good spring or summer storm in the Midwest, you are probably familiar with the lovely green tint everything gets, right before it gets really bad :)  Aden said, see it stopped, no more storm.  I said, just wait a minute.  So while, Aden and Evan argued about whether or not I was lying, I was trying to get them to look out the window.  You could see the black clouds rolling in.  I didn't have to wait long though.  Mother Nature decided to announce the storm for me, with a lightening strike loud enough to rattle the windows and send the boys and Sam running for safety under the table.  Then the hail started.  It was pretty cool.  I haven't seen hail bounce that high in a few years.  They wanted to call Daddy.  What did they think he was going to do??  But he did call us, to warn us of the approaching storm. Alrighty, thanks then, a bit late, but it is the thought, I guess.   I could barely hear him, because the wind was blowing so hard and my wind chimes were going crazy.  I wonder if the neighbors find that annoying???  Anyway, I enjoyed the storm.
So I went all day yesterday without a real cigarette.  I did change the cartridge and switched to the 18mg Tobacco flavor and I recharged the battery.
I was pretty sure the tobacco flavor was going to suck.  It actually doesn't.  I don't think it tastes like tobacco exactly, but I am not sure what it tastes like.  But it isn't bad at all.
I saw that the South Beach smoke is offering the same kit I got for $30, for $20.  Well that just sucks lol.  I did tell Bill, but I think he has changed his mind or maybe he just didn't feel like discussing it this morning.   Whatever, he still isn't getting mine.
It doesn't look like the weather is going to cooperate this week as far as the roof goes.  Now it looks like Tuesday won't be bad, but rain & storms through  the rest of the week.  I wonder if the roof is going to be one of those things, that if I want it done, I will have to do it myself??  I hope not, thats way more work than I want to do.
Today the boys want to do Tae Bo, I guess we could do that, for a little while then I can switch to Zumba.  I am completely convinced that I am now officially addicted.
There could be worse things.
I can no longer avoid seeing my doctor.  He has started calling himself and leaving messages that I need to come in and see him.  But I just don't want to.  I am so sick of being poked and prodded, I can't even stand to think about it.  But I guess I should go.
I should get off of here and get busy.  The house is a disgusting pit.  I  swear I vacuum at least twice a day and you would never know.  Same with dusting.  The place looks like it hasn't been dusting in about 100 years, but it was dusted yesterday.  Oh well, its not like I have anything else to do :)

Day 6, 7 & 8 of Stopping smoking & How Zumba kicked my a$$

Since I really don't get a chance to blog on the days that Bill is off work, I'll just do a combo for what all went on Friday & Saturday.
Just to recap, I have mostly been using the e-cig, with occasionally slipping in a real cigarette.  And by occasionally I mean maybe 1 or 2 whole cigs spread throughout the day.  I got the kit with the e-cig last Saturday, March 26th.  I have been on the same battery charge and the same cartridge since then.  One cartridge is supposed to be the equivalent of 1 pack of cigarettes.  So I think that is pretty good.  I am really surprised with how long the battery has lasted! Really surprised.  But I think that I will go ahead and recharge it today, I also think I am getting to the end of the cartridge and will need to change that too.  I think it would have lasted longer, but Bill was using it over the weekend too.  He tried to talk me into letting him take it to work.  He said he'd go get me a pack of cigarettes and he would take the e-cig.  Ah, No.  He is just going to have to get his own.  I will share it while he's here, but he is not taking it to work.
I did tell him that if he gets his own kit, I'd be happy to give him my Cherry favored cartridge for his Vanilla one.
But today will be the real test.  There are no real cigarettes here.  Just me and my e-cig.  I think that when I change the cartridge I will put in one of the 18mg cartridges to see if that works better.  Right now I am using a 14mg.  The only bad thing is I only have to 18mg cartridges. One is menthol and the other Tobacco flavored.  I would prefer the vanilla :)  But I am pretty sure it only comes in 14mg.  I'll check the website to be sure.
Because I haven't mentioned it before, i think I will let you know what company I got this e-cig from.  I didn't want to do it, until I knew whether or not it was a piece of crap.  But since it is working, so far, as it is supposed to, I'll dish.
I am using the South Beach Smoke E-cig.  I had gotten alot of recommendations for other companies, but I really didn't want to mess with refilling cartridges and stuff.

Now for Zumba.
Wednesday I did 40 minutes and was very proud of myself, I loved it.  I loved it so much, that when Thursday rolled around I wanted to do it again.  Since I wasn't sore at all from Wednesday, I figured it wouldn't hurt.  Thursday I did 90 minutes and still loved it.  Still wasn't really sore except for my feet.  But that was my own fault.  The sneakers I have are pretty bulky and made more for walking, not dancing.  It was such a pain to try and wear them, I just took them off.  It isn't alot of pain or anything major, just my instep and the balls of my feet.  I have more appropriate shoes but they were all boxed up.  I'll try using them next time.
Anyway, Friday, Bill had some errands to run so he took Evan with him and I  thought that since they were gone, I'd do some Zumba, maybe just an hour or so.
That just didn't work out like I thought it would.
I have all the routines I like in the order I like to do them, so its pretty much easy to hard.
The first one I tried was just a one, two step, easy.  or it should have been.
I could not move.  My legs just wouldn't go.  I am looking at the screen, I know how my legs should be moving, and yet they are not moving. Maybe I should stretch more.  Tried that, thought I was going to die.
But I kept trying, after stretching more, I tried again.  I was able to get my legs to move, but not so well.
I probably actually only did 20 minutes.  Then I just gave up.  I spent the rest of Friday, convinced that someone should just shoot me.  put me out of my misery.  As long as I didn't move very much I was okay.  I have places that are sore where I didn't even know I had muscles.  But yet, I still thought about doing Zumba.  I am convinced, its like crack.  But, at least now I am not doubting whether or not it actually working.  I have learned that, I really should stick to my original plan, to alternate Zumba, Pilates, yoga & Tae Bo.
At least I can walk again.  You know you are really sore when it hurts more to walk down stairs than it does to walk up them.
Aden just asked if we are going to do Zumba today.  ROFLMAO.  Yeah Right.  Maybe Tuesday.  Or Tomorrow, but not today.
Today I am thinking, something a bit less traumatic, like Yoga.  Or maybe just laundry :)
Bill's birthday weekend was not to shabby, all considered.  He got Chicken Marsala on Friday and Steaks yesterday.  The steaks were awesome!  I couldn't not taste them.  I had to.  One little bite, they were oh so good.
Bill took down the last peach tree and one of the pear trees.  It was sad, but they had to go.  They were right in the middle of back yard, and while I loved the shade from them, not to mention the free fruit, they were taking up too much room.  We want to have room for the dog & the boys to run, once the yard is fenced.  And we would like to get them a playset and with the trees were they were, there would not have been enough room.  So, he took those out and started digging for the retaining wall.  With the design he came up with, the boys & Sam will have plenty of room and I will still have lots of room to plant my gardens.  But the vegetable garden is going to be moved to the west side of the house.  But that has to wait until the roofers are done and the house next door is finally knocked down.  Speaking of roofers, we should see them on Tuesday.  Yay!!! Finally.  Let's just hope the weather stays nice after Monday.
Nana & Papa are thinking about taking Aden with them down to the lake when they go next week. We still haven't told Aden, because they are still just talking about it.  He loves the lake, but I am pretty sure that Nana & papa won't be doing all of the hiking we do when we go, actually I doubt if they will hike at all lol.
I had probably better get off here and get busy with my laundry before the storms roll in.  We tend to lose power pretty frequently if we get good storms.
